Pre/post-surgical patients, CVA, seizures, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injury and minor fractures, and DVTs. Medication administration, titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.
Peripheral IV, Midline, PICC and central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal collection devices.
Wound care, telemetry monitored patients.
Requirements
Post neuro-intervention (preferred experience but education and resources are provided per unit if they have not had this patient type).
RN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Previous experience with our types of patients above, including IMC/stepdown and neuro; ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration of below medications.
Drip Titration: most commonly Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips (will train if traveler has not done these) or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives.
