  Job Overview

  The Operating Room Nurse provides direct patient care in a surgical setting inaccordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with thepolicies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors and managesthe patient and operative environment during surgery to maintain a safeenvironment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

  Department: North Campus ORHours per week: varies based on unit needsShift: Shift may vary from 7-330pm 9-530 pm or 10-630 pm Monday - Friday

  Qualifications

  Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Experience: One year perioperative nursing experience or successfulcompletion of a perioperative courseEQUIVALENCY- Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing who agree toobtain a Bachelor of Science (BSN) within 3 years from their start datemay be considered.Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with atleast 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.Licensure(s): Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan,implement and evaluate intraoperative patient care plansServes as the communication liaison to patients, families and members of theoperating teamPrepares operating room for patient and procedureDelivers patient and family centered care incorporating the nursing processwhile providing developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive,evidence-based care. Actively anticipates changes in patient outcomes/ unitneeds in the provision of care.Communicate and advocate patient values, preferences and expressed needs aspart of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment ofpatient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team.
