Our brand NEW Emergency Department-based Observation Unit at Hartford Hospital is a fast-paced, 20 bed unit devoted to the management of patients requiring observation status. Our team of Registered Nurses, Providers, Techs, administrative professionals and support staff is dedicated specifically to this unit, where we continue to provide safe, personalized, compassionate care to all our patients. This unit’s focus is on the provision of care to patients requiring a period of Observation before a medical decision can be made regarding patient admission vs. discharge. All rooms are equipped with new, state of the art technology to support even the most acute of patients. _Job Summary_ Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for patient populations within a unit, service or other primary area of practice, with an awareness of the continuum of care. Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice. Collaboratively manages transitions across the continuum of care, to assist patients or populations in achieving or maintaining an optimal level of health. Is recognized as professional role model and clinical expert. Delegates and supervises work appropriately. * Active CT Registered Nurse license required. * BSN required, MSN preferred. * Minimum one year recent RN experience in an Emergency Department or Observation Unit required. * BLS required, ACLS preferred * Vested interest in professional growth and development to expand knowledge of the Observation specialty.
