As a Recovery Engineer, we'll rely on you to provide senior level technical support for business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Lead, develop, implement, and maintain processes to ensure continual operations in the event of disasters or technology interruptions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise and guidance for the recovery of our on prem datacenter environment, coordinating with our Operations and Engineering teams to facilitate technical recovery.

In this role, you will: Drive the implementation and creation of policies and procedures for business continuance and disaster recovery plans. Analyzes business security requirements and consults with business leaders on disaster recovery plans Plan, configure, and deploy disaster recovery technologies and systems. Oversee disaster recovery tests and simulations. Assess results and make improvements as needed. Ensures that the disaster recovery activities adhere to industry-standards. Identify and make recommendations regarding critical points of failure. Perform risk analsys to identify system vulnerabilities, recommending disaster avoidance and reduction strategies. Participate in the evaluation and selection of disaster recovery tools, equipment, and alternate recovery sites. Consults on assessments of disaster recovery requirements for new and enhanced products, networks and services. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. Manages the relationship with vendors and or service providers of the disaster recovery infrastructure and facilities. Design and implement solutions with a focus on observability and automation. Create documentation, including knowledge articles, policies and procedures, and diagrams. Play a leadership role in recovery testing. Add, update, and close records in the IT Problem Management and Change Management systems. Train and mentor staff Operations teams. Conduct formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions, and one-on-one sessions. Interface with technical leads of Vanguard's engineering team; designing, configuring and maintaining innovative solutions in the infrastructure for recovery. What it takes: Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum of 5+ years infrastructure engineering experience. Working understanding of code and scripting (PowerShell, Linux Scripting, SYMCLI) Knowledge of File & Object storage Knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration Intricate knowledge of IT infrastructure and workflows: hardware, OS, networking, storage, databases, etc. Experience with DevOps Experience participating in Agile or Lean programs a plus Independent self-starter to lead projects from design to production Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Strong analysis and problem-solving skills. Advanced knowledge on the following focused areas preferred, but not necessary: Knowledge of RecoverPoint Knowledge of VMWare Adequate technical competencies with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipeline process and technologies through the Atlassian product suite (Bitbucket, Bamboo, JIRA and Confluence) Special Factors
