  Reference #: 4339424THE POSITIONWould you like to join forces with an agency whose mission is to protect children from abuse and neglect and strengthen families?  If so, the Lehigh County Office of Children & Youth Services (OCYS) is currently seeking a Clerk Typist 2 to perform various receptionist duties and assist with the overall functionality of the office.  Apply today to work in a supportive team environment and help accomplish our goals!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Clerk Typist 2 within this office, you must possess strong organizational skills, as you will be responsible for maintaining current phone lists and managing the "Daily Schedule" which records the office attendance of all staff along with meetings and overnight staffing.  Excellent interpersonal skills are exercised regularly when interfacing with staff and the public.  This position answers three incoming phone lines and completes transfers as appropriate in addition to recording all voice messages from the previous night.  You will process incoming mail and retrieve and distribute all incoming faxes at the reception area.  Process the dispatch fax each morning, file in the binder, and complete the monthly log.  Additional duties include assigning bus passes and maintaining the log for the Fiscal Department, contacting the Language Line for bi-lingual calls, and confirming on-call staff assignments on a daily basis.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  LIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or

  Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or

  Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

  Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Carbon, Monroe, Northampton, Schuylkill, and Lehigh counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

  You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  Legal Requirements:

  You must pass a background investigation.

  This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

  Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
