  Requisition Summary

  Kenworth Division of PACCAR is looking for a highly motivated individual who is interested in gaining professional Design experience in an industry-leading manufacturing company to join our 2024 Internship Program in Renton, WA.

  The R&D Engineering Intern will contribute their skills and ideas to support the Kenworth R&D Engineering team on a combination of advanced development and current projects. They will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers as well as technicians to design and build future KW designs for evaluation and test.

  Internships include unique opportunities such as:

  This internship is scheduled to begin in May or June 2024.

  Job Functions / Responsibilities

  Identify, develop, and incorporate advanced vehicle technologies (Battery Electric Vehicle, Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, Connectivity, etc.) into PACCAR products.

  Generate detailed design drawings for prototype truck parts

  Develop functional controls for advanced vehicle systems and software features including test requirements

  Create work plans for upcoming programs by establishing scope, identifying deliverables

  Develop functional controls for advanced vehicle systems and software features including test requirements

  Participate in the assembly of prototype vehicle(s)

  Respond to feedback from members of the R&D team

  Skills / Competencies

  Automotive experience/interest desired

  Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

  Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively

  Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required

  Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.

  Microsoft Office skills

  Education

  Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a degree in Engineering.

  Junior or senior standing preferred

  The salary range for internship positions is $25 an hour for undergraduate students and $30 an hour for graduate students. Additionally, this role is eligible for a range of benefit options listed above.
