Rapid Prototyping Technician
Scope of Position:
Requires a creative self-motivated individual who seeks out solutions to the challenges associated with the position and drives these solutions through to completion. focused on designing, building, or coordinating prototypes for optical connectivity solutions for fiber optic networks.
Applying process technical knowledge, skills, and expertise from concept through delivery of process and equipment at laboratory and production areas
Create and leverage large network of suppliers, fabrication shops, contract manufacturers and Cable Assembly Houses to design, build and deliver prototypes.
Work closely with other engineers, technicians and supply chain to design and build prototypes to develop product solutions.
Manage projects under appropriate supervision and direction from responsible engineer or supervisor.

Collaborate with customers, Market Development, Product Line Managers, engineers, technicians, pilot lab managers, suppliers, and supply chain to design, build and deliver prototypes for optical connectivity solutions for fiber optic networks.
Support project teams and the definition of prototype design objectives and timelines.
Support work to develop operational ranges for parameters defined as result of experimental development.
Work with internal and external subject matter experts to identify key processing technologies and determine feasibility.
Engage global manufacturing plants to capture manufacturability of proposed solutions and support initial implementation of new process technologies.
Collaborate with internal and external equipment and tooling designers to establish functional requirements.
Lead and collect feedback into prototype revisions.
Maintain and improve a safe work environment.
Work with colleagues to find creative solutions to building prototypes.
Work with manufacturing engineering to develop and implement process documentation for each project.
Review and interpret data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc.

Travel Requirements:
15% on average depending on the project requirements. Includes international travel.Required Education:
Mechatronics, Mechanical Technical Career
or 2-year Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering degree.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
2-4 years of experience of in a development, manufacturing or experimental laboratory environment working with electrical/mechanical assembly and testing.Required Skills:
Technical expertise in manufacturing processes
Demonstrated problem solving techniques.
Experience on new processes or equipment deployment into manufacturing
Ability to clearly express technical ideas.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Organized with good planning and time management skills
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers
Desire to learn and develop personal and organizational knowledge.
Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
Basic DFMEA knowledge
Ability to deal with low-medium levels of uncertainty, ambiguity, and change
Innovation and Results oriented
Desired Skills:
Experience on product design or manufacturing processes using CAD (Pro Engineer a PLUS)
Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.
Capable of performing data analysis using MS excel (SPC)
Familiar with fiber optic theory
Foreign languages skills: English
