Scope:Radiology Technologist responsibilities:Produce x-ray images of specified body areas as directed by the physician orradiologist ensuring clear and undistorted films. Position and instructpatients regarding x-ray procedures.Perform x-ray procedures using portable machines as requested by the EmergencyDepartment and nursing units.Process films for radiologists reading/interpretation following establishedprocedures.Prepare or clean patient rooms by changing linens, stocking supplies andwiping off tables and equipment ensuring an efficient and clean workingenvironment.Protect patients from undue exposure to radiation by using lead shields andvarious safety factors.Prepare and assist in administering contrast agents by monitoring dosages anddetermining any potential allergies ensuring compliance with departmentpolicies and procedures.Maintain patient information as needed by purging or updating patient filmjackets and/or filing reports or film files to ensure accurate patientrecords.Maintain imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleaningsand tests and documenting results. Contact service personnel and notifysupervision of malfunctioning equipment.Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent, required.Successful completion of an approved radiological training program and theability to meet the requirements for registry by the American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists (ARRT), required.Current license/certification in the state of practice, required.Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification, or obtain certificationwithin one month of employment, required.At least one (1) year of experience in a setting serving the sameage/type of patient population served by this facility or department,preferred
