Quality Technician, ADM Animal Nutrition
Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for the completion of quality checks, verifications, and ensure product parameters are being meant on the production floor. This position will offer support to the quality manager in making quality decisions, investigating non-conforming product, and completing monitoring activities in a safe fashion. This position reports to the Plant Quality Manager.
Position Description:
Perform preoperational inspections on equipment and utensils
Complete post maintenance inspection of area to ensure processing equipment is free from foreign materials and loose articles
Responsible for completing daily quality checks before, during, and after bagging runs
Oversee product is being packaged to meet expectations
Oversight of sample requirements
Maintain sample retention system
Collect product samples for required assays
Collect and prepare appropriate samples for random sampling program
Monitor products for quality parameters
Communicate to quality manager and production when product falls out of specification, document any noticeable discrepancy, take corrective actions to eliminate the issue
Participate in equipment validation procedures for high risk products
Participate in food safety meetings led by the facility quality manager
Ensure site specific work instructions, sop’s, and mpcs are being followed
Spot check PDI’S to verify product meets specifications
Assist with Pest Control Program
Participate in visits with pest control technician to verify service is being completed
Participate in GMP plant inspections per divisional requirements
Verify quality and product safety checks are properly completed to meet procedural requirements such as; sequencing, bin checks, magnet checks, etc.,
Perform job functional quality safety checks on production employees as assigned by
Assist with monitoring activities such as; carryover studies, uniformity studies, scale checks, and traceability
Verify high risk activities are being completed before the shipment of product
Requirements:
2+ years in quality experience in food safety and quality
Knowledge of FDA and state regulatory requirements
Knowledge of FSMA preferred
Excellent communication skills
Effective use of Microsoft office applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues.
Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills
Working Conditions:
Employees in this position will carry out many of their functions in a manufacturing facility which requires tolerance to hot/cold temperatures.
The environment may consist of numerous raw ingredients such as bulk and bagged animal feed ingredients.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, and kneel
Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
Occasionally required to push, pull, move, or lift objects up to 50 lbs.
ADM requires the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and a background check.
