Position Summary and Purpose: Work with the Quality Manager to develop critical Quality Processes for the Quality Management System (QMS). The primary focus will be on the Design Process, which will be a collaborative effort with the Design Engineering team. Additionally, work with the Manufacturing team to implement Control and Inspection Plans on the production floor. This position will serve as both a champion and leader for the development of Quality Processes and will implement these systems at the ground level. As the system changes, grows, and evolves; additional opportunities will emerge to help develop auditing systems, continuous improvement activities, and poka-yoke error proofing controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop critical Quality processes for the (QMS) by implementing tools such as: (Design and Process) Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA); Design Verification Plans (DVP); and First Article Inspections (FAI)
Work with the Design Engineering Team to analyze risk in designs, and develop test and verification plans
Validate proposed changes and new design roll-outs via Engineering Change Orders
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Operators and Supervisors to understand part characteristics and process vulnerabilities, then oversee implementation of control and inspection plans
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of quality control methodologies and standards to include: DFMEA & PFMEA; DVP; FAI; Control Plans and Inspection Plans
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles; Six Sigma DMAIC Process
Working knowledge and understanding of: Cpk & PpK, Gage R&R, calibration
Root Cause Analysis Tools, such as: Ishikawa diagram, 5-Why, 6M’s
Strong statistical background with data analysis experience
Desired background in automotive or aerospace quality control systems – AS9100, IATF16949, TS16949, ISO9001, or other equivalent standards
MS Office and databases skills
Outstanding communication skills and ability to work with others
Organized with excellent documentation skills and great attention to detail
Self-motivated with a results driven approach and keen problem solving skills
Reliable and trustworthy
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Industrial Strongly Preferred (but not required)
At least 8-10 years manufacturing experience with at least 3-5 years in Quality
We are looking for someone with a proven track record in developing quality systems who can make an immediate impact!
Practical, hands-on experience working in an industrial environment. This may include roles such as: process engineer, quality engineer, or production support in a manufacturing environment
Machine Shop, Fabrication, Metal manufacturing experience is a plus

Work environment: The employee is occasionally exposed to non-air-conditioned temperatures in the manufacturing area, and occasionally moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud at times when in the manufacturing facility. Rarely any travel (<5%)
