JOB REQUIREMENTS: Scope: This description establishes the dutiesrequired to effectively perform the duties of the Continuous ImprovementEngineer or Quality Engineer. This is a guideline, and not anall-encompassing description. Purpose: The purpose of this descriptionis to define the reporting, authority, duties, activities,organizational, and external relationships of the Continuous Improvementor Quality Engineer. Reporting To: Director of Quality Position Summary:Design, develop, test, and evaluate systems for managing production andsupport processes including human factors, quality control & assurance,logistics, workflow, and coordination of resources. Principal Duties andResponsibilities: 1. Analyze statistical data with regard to product andprocess specifications to determine standards and establish quality andreliability objectives. 2. Recommend methods for improving utilizationof personnel, materials, equipment, and workspace to maximizeefficiency. 3. Interfaces with other engineering areas within thecompany and with customers and suppliers on quality related issues. 4.Handles customer complaints relating to quality issues. 5. Workscooperatively and communicates frequently with manufacturing on productquality concerns. 6. Resolves corrective action requests and follows upon action taken. 7. Coordinate Quality and Continuous Improvementobjectives and activities to resolve problems, maximize reliability,minimize cost and increase profitability. 8. Direct workers engaged inproduct measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensureconsistency and reliability. 9. Formulate sampling procedures and otherdata collection methods and develop instructions for recording,evaluating, analyzing the data, and reporting results. 10. Lead crossfunctional teams in determining factors affecting manufacturing orsupport operations, identifying necessary actions, and facilitateimplementation. 11. Formulate policies and procedures for internaloperations that support and uphold the Quality Management System.Additional Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities: 1. Visits customerlocations to ensure their needs are being met. 2. May conduct trainingon quality assurance or continuous improvement related philosophies andtools. 3. Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill theresponsibilities of this position. Education/Experience: Requires abachelor\'s degree in Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering,Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or other Engineeringrelated field or equivalent experience. Direct Reports: None WorkRelationships: Works very closely with customers, supervisors,suppliers, Continuous Improvement Department, and has contact with awide variety of internal employees. Has access to highly confidentialcompany information. Working Conditions: Work is performed largely in apleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury.Frequent mental and visual concentration for computer usage andcalculations. Work hours are normally during regular business hours withoccasional unscheduled overtime as required. Occasional overnight travelmay be required. Completed confidentiality agreement will be required.Physical Requirements: May need to bend, stoop, and lift to movematerials and retrieve files. Spends prolonged periods of time sitting,using a keyboard and telephone. Some exposure to noise on shop floor.Required to use inspection equipment and tools.
