Pay Rate: $21/hr
Shift: Monday – Friday 8 hour shifts --- 7 am-3 pm---3 pm-11 pm---11 pm-7 am. Currently it's 7 am-3 pm day shift. The talent could be asked to step into another shift. The shifts would be rotating in this case .Occasionally, there is weekend coverage that is needed which will entail 12-hour shifts. Talent will have advance notice.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for quality assurance testing of products made at the Company Plant. The incumbent will conduct analytical testing on crude clay ore, in-process and finished processed clay products in support of the manufacturing operation. Evaluation of data is based on internal and external specifications. Lab Technician will evaluate products and interact with key stakeholder within the Quality and Production Teams.
The key tests include the safe, accurate and timely measurement and reporting of viscosity, free moisture, particle size, and residue. Tests such as packed density, free fall density, pH, Calcium Analysis, CO2/CO3 are among other analyses performed. A developed proficiency in workflow management and prioritization is necessary to support the speed and accuracy of productivity.
Lab Technicians will work on a rotating shift to support the plant’s run schedule, which includes weekend work.
Qualifications - The Client recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Principal Responsibilities:
Participate in safe work practices.
Operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as calcium analyzer, rheometer, electronic balance scales, moisture balances, spectrometer, and other equipment.
Generates data from a variety of laboratory techniques and analytic instrumentation.
Adheres to company procedures and work instructions and industrial standards regarding safety, sampling and testing techniques, and proper handling and preparation of samples.
Participates in routine equipment validations and calibrations.
Prepares and tests routine in-process and final product samples to verify conformity to specifications.
Enter test records and report results using a variety of computer software systems.
Work environment/Physical demands:
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must be able to occasionally lift and /or move 10 to 50 pounds.
The use of personal protection equipment is required including a minimum of safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves.
May be required to work mandatory overtime and/or twelve-hour shifts, and weekends.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. One or more years of work experience in a quality or laboratory industrial setting is desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to operate machines of medium complexity, often including use of intermediate computer skills.
Demonstrate enhanced trouble shooting skills.
Demonstrate the ability to handle multitask assignments.
Ability to operate various program-controlled instruments in addition to familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel; and an aptitude to learn new computer based ran equipment.
Well-developed analytical methodology and an insight into problem solving.
Detail oriented with the ability to record (via notebook or computer) and report pertinent data.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and deal with problems involving in process results while performing tasks which may require multiple steps.
Experience with SAP a plus.

It is the intention of the Client to transition the Kelly Service Employee into a full-time position provided the Kelly Service Employee meets all expectations of the job. This also includes teamwork, communication skills, willingness to listen, and above all the proper attitude toward learning and coworkers.
