Note: This position does NOT perform venipunctures or EKG's
40 hours per week
Sunday - Saturday with holidays and rotating holidays
Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm
About the Job
Under general supervision is responsible for verifying the accuracy of all aspects of specimen processing, data entry, specimen integrity and assures that all errors are promptly corrected. Processes specimens according to the established criteria and assumes leadership and training role for core lab LSSTs
What you'll do
Serves as specimen processor for Core Lab. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the departmental needs:
Trains new hires
performs waived testing
setting up daily quality control
receiving and storing supplies
Intake and specimen processing
Specimen centrifugation, aliquoting, dissemination
Must be competent in the interpretation of orders and downtime procedures. Assures for the accuracy on all orders placed for specimen processing. Quality checks all orders entered by other personnel for accuracy. Processes all specimens according to Core Lab procedures. Performs Quality Control duties on a daily basis and handles all problematic specimens for the department. Contacts the nurse and/or the physician's office when the lack of pertinent information or errors on patient requisition requires reconciliation. Coordinates the workflow of specimen processing. Performs rapid testing within the established CLIA rules.
