Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager is a versatile professional who oversees procurement processes and manages the execution of projects within the organization. They possess strong analytical skills and negotiation skills to ensure optimal supplier selection and cost effective purchasing decisions. They excel in project planning, coordination and resource management, ensuring successful outcomes while meeting budget and timeline requirements. With their combined expertise in procurement and project management, they play a crucial role in driving operational efficiency and delivering successful projects that align with the organization's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring the availability of fresh, high quality ingredients
Identify new partnership opportunities with local vendors and MWBE suppliers
Monitor and address supplier issues with Foodbuy to efficiently resolve them
Conduct annual training sessions on the USDA commodity diversion strategy and present the region with optimal financial and commodity product opportunities
Ensure product compliance communicate potential opportunities, and implement changes within the district
Provide oversight and guidance to two district team members responsible for managing the logistics of warehouse delivery, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of materials and supplies
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of Associate Degree required
Minimum of 3 years in related food service procurement
Must have full knowledge of purchasing procedures, food, beverage and paper products
Knowledge of MS Office products and ordering systems
Good knowledge of food and inventory trends with a focus on operations
Financial accountability and contract managed service experience is highly desirable
Possess accurate data entry skills, computer skills, and be detailed oriented with great organizational skills
Knowledge of purchasing with the school nutrition and/or food industry is strongly preferred
