This person will be responsible for procuring raw materials, components, tooling, equipment and purchased services at the appropriate quality, lowest price, and within acceptable time frames by performing the following duties:

Duties/Responsibilities:

Purchases raw material, tooling and components for custom and standard inventory as well as materials and equipment needed for day to day operations.Builds and maintains good business vendor relationships, and seeks out new or alternate vendors as required.Establishes and maintains raw yard inventory and periodically checks quantities to ensure accuracy.Prepares, reviews and emails complete and accurate purchase orders according to company guidelines.Expedites and follows up purchase orders as requested.Resolves order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors, and responds to inquiries on any material received.Coordinates and participates in physical inventory as scheduled.Prepares and transmits requrests for quotes for items to be purchased via telephone, fax and email.Ensures vendors can provide products that meet the necessary internal technical requirements.Processes returned items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.Interfaces with management concerning new products, and forecasts for new and existing products.Maintains purchasing library to include paper/computer files and purchasing history files.Initiates and distributes change notices for purchased items such as changes in specifications, part numbers, and sources.Interfaces with Shipping/Receiving regarding incoming and return shipments on a daily basis.Negotiates with suppliers and contractors on price, contract terms and conditions, and supplier consignment, using competitive bidding to obtain the best total value for Modular Steel.Performs other related duties as assigned.This is a full time, exempt position.  Salary based on experience.  Must be able to read blueprints and order materials from the blueprints.
