POSITION: Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician (Multiple Positions)

　　DUTIES: Evaluate and treat new patients, diagnose and stabilize critically ill patients; ensure patients are properly admitted and receive appropriate and responsive medical care according to their condition, symptoms; treat patients with impending or active organ failure or other life-threatening conditions; develop a plan of care in conjunction with other primary care, hospitalist and specialty physicians and interdisciplinary staff to ensure quality care of patients; complete effective and timely communication with the primary physician at key stages during care; lead rounds with the multidisciplinary team of nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, pastoral care personnel, or other staff to discuss the patient's current problems and care plan; communicate with clinicians in order to affect a coordinated and timely transfer of information to improve the quality of care for patients; communicate with patients and families to explain diagnosis, procedures, expected diagnostic or therapeutic treatments, prognosis and or recovery periods, and potential or expected outcomes; and to obtain informed consent; document patient diagnosis, treatment, orders and clinical progress in the chart.

　　MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Medical degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent); Completion of residency in Internal Medicine; Completion of fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine or Critical Care Medicine; Board certified in Internal Medicine; Board eligible or board certified in Critical Care Medicine or Pulmonary Disease; and Possess or eligible to apply for North Carolina medical license.
