The Oswego County Health Department has immediate openings for Public Health Technicians to assist environmental health professionals (such as Public Health Sanitarians, Public Health Engineers, and supervisory staff) in carrying out the various elements of prevention and control programs affecting public health. Duties include gathering information for use by other professionals in the Department in order to comply with local and State Sanitary Code requirements. The position involves assisting in field and office environmental quality work.Qualifications: Associate’s degree with 15 credit hours in the natural sciences (chemistry, astronomy, geology, earth science, physics, meteorology, biology, zoology); OR 60 credit hours including a minimum of 15 credit hours in the natural sciences.Permanent appointment to this position requires successful completion of a civil service examination.Pay Rate: $19.80 per hour plus competitive benefit package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance, NYS Retirement and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.To Apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
