JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties Psychological services are an integral part ofthe overall VHA health care program and are provided as part of healthcare service delivery. Psychological services provide help to veteransand their families in resolving the psychosocial, emotional, andcognitive problems associated with the stresses of illness. As aprofessional staff member of Mental Health Service, participates ingoal-setting and treatment service planning discussions; serves on orchairs task groups or administrative committees of the service orMedical Center at the direction or approval of the Chief, Mental HealthService or designee; participates in professional peer review of his/herown work and that of other staff; maintains and upgrades professionalknowledge and skills by involvement in appropriate continuing educationactivities, and participates in at least one of the following at thedirection or approval of the Chief, Mental Health Service or designee:a. Teaches or supervises psychology trainees receiving training inmental health services. b. Designs, conducts and reports the results ofresearch relevant to psychology as a body of knowledge and to theeffective delivery of high-quality mental health services. c. Designsand implements the evaluation of treatment efforts or services of healthcare delivery program and support services in the hospital. d. Consultswith or provides psychological services to treatment programs orhospital services outside of his/her primary duty assignment. e. Will beexpected to serve as consultant to other agencies and communityorganizations. f. Actively supports the implementation of the UniformMental Health Service Handbook. At least two years of experience as aprofessional psychologist with at least one year equivalent to a GS-12grade level. The Psychologist will be an independently licensed providerwith knowledge of behavioral medicine and the implementation andcoordination of mental health care in both outpatient and inpatientsettings. The Psychologist\'s primary duties will be psychologicalassessments, diagnostic evaluations, crises interventions,psychotherapy, and care management services. In the inpatient setting,the Psychologist will assist in diagnostic assessments, psychologicalassessments, psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, follow-upmanagement, and coordination of care.
