DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Psychiatric Aide, you deliver direct patient care to persons who have serious mental illness under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Duties include assisting, supervising, and instructing patients in all activities of daily living (ADLs), as well as performing ADLs for the patient if the patient is not able to perform ADLs independently. You are responsible for reporting changes in patients' conditions to the Registered Nurse. Also, you provide hands-on care including turning and positioning patients, applying simple dressings and soaks, administering special skin care as instructed, collecting specimens for laboratory analysis as instructed, and obtaining and recording vital signs. In addition, you monitor and supervise patients during program and leisure activities and escort patients on and off grounds.

*Work Schedule and Additional Information:*
Full-time employment, 80-hours biweekly.Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) and 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM) with a 30 minute lunch and a rotating schedule, where you work weekends and holidays as assigned. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS*Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:*
Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (commonwealth title);* or*Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities;* or*Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
