Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and under-served communities around the world.THE ROLEHave you wanted an opportunity to develop electric propulsion systems for an advanced satellite constellation? The "Propulsion Test Engineer" will work within the Kuiper propulsion team in the design, commissioning and operation of electric propulsion integration and SW validation tests. This test engineer's responsibilities will emphasize testing SW functionality in an integrated state. The role will begin at the definition and early planning stages through to execution and data analysis. This person will be responsible for test hardware included in hardware-in-the-loop tests with the propulsion system and other spacecraft systems. You will also engage with sub-component and software developers to assist with planning and running tests of propulsion software and hardware. You will contribute to finding solutions to challenging problems trading test methodologies, schedule constraints and measurement precision in determining and implementing test solutions.Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Key job responsibilities- Implement and execute methods to achieve electric propulsion SW and system integration test goals with guidance from SW and HW subsystem owners.- Assemble and commission electric propulsion load simulation hardware.- In partnership with sub-system developers, take ownership of planning and performing propulsion SW and system-integration acceptance and qualification tests including writing procedures, designing test HW and reporting.- Author, refine and implement validation, verification, acceptance and qualification test procedures.- Contribute to developing post-processing tools to decompose test data into desired metrics.- Develop test automation, data acquisition and control SW- Author test reports and disseminate results to fellow team membersWe are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Redmond, WA, USA- 3+ years experience with electrical test equipment and/or data acquisition systems- 3+ years experience with SW test and/or test SW development- 3+ years of processing and reporting electrical, SW or integrated system test data- 3+ years experience defining and following test procedures or work instructions- Experience designing tests to validate and verify system requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience- 3+ years developing test code in Python, Labview and/or similar- 3+ year automating SW, HW or integration tests- 3+ years of fabricating electrical test harnesses- 3+ years experience in design and assembly of hardware development test equipment.- 3+ years experience defining and following test procedures or work instructions- Experience in new product introduction cycles- Experience in a manufacturing environmentsOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
