Job Description: The Proposal Writer at IERUS is responsible for executing proposal content development with support from technical staff and business development. Under the direction of the Vice President of Business Development and in-line with IERUS’ Corporate priorities, the Proposal Writer supports the content development for request for proposal/information (RFP/RFI), small business innovative research (SBIR) papers, white papers and other technical responses as required. Additional expectations include: • Ability to semi-independently develop proposal content from technical materials/interviews; • Ability to actively participate in win strategy; • Manage the Corporate Past Performance library; • Ability to manage the key personnel library; • Support development of marketing materials; • Actively support the full-cycle proposal development including formulating bid/no-bid decision recommendation, completing proposal outlines, conducting kick-off meetings, assigning authors, supporting/performing content creation, conducting review meetings, working with contracts to complete cost proposals, and finalizing and submitting proposal; • Provide surge support for BD Administration functions; and • Participating in regular business development meetings. Responsibilities: • Extract government requirements, and develop winning solutions for new opportunities; • Create, edit, and finalize technical, managerial, and related content for written proposals and RFIs; • Write proposal content templates (Executive Summary, Past Performance Descriptions, Team Profiles, etc.) ensuring that differentiation and key win themes are effectively highlighted; • Copy/edit proposal content-including reviewing for compliance, completeness, and credibility; • Ensuring positive tone, consistent voice, and professional presentation of responses; • Create compliant and complete proposal outlines, matrices/checklists and templates; • Responsible for Proposal Volumes • Clarify, edit, and refine first drafts of proposal content created by staff, Team-members, and SMEs; • Work with the Capture Manager, PM’s and other colleagues to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, and acquisition timing; • Interview SME's, PM's and other members in the proposal development process to create and edit new/old proposal content; • Assists Proposal Managers and participate in developing/executing proposal production schedules; develops graphic content for proposal efforts; works with company subject matter experts to identify and document win themes, solutions, and highlights that are relevant to proposals; • Participate in bid team and stakeholder meetings as necessary; and • Provide strategic advice on overall proposal strategy based on proposal development experience. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree or higher; • 5+ years of prior proposal writing experience in Defense Contracting; • Active Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance • The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with the ability to multi-task exceptionally well; • The candidate must be an organized, a highly skilled professional, knowledgeable in monitoring processes with excellent leadership and collaboration skills; • Must be able to interact with teammates and customers in an effective manner; • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish working relationships with managers, peers and staff; • Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment; • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills; • Ability to provide succinct instructions in high-pressure situations often under time constraints; • Ability to adjust to constantly changing priorities and demand; • Self-starter with a desire to solve problems and learn new skills; • A proven track record of success writing successful, competitive, and high-value proposals; • The ability to analyze large quantities of information from multiple sources, and ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely; • Demonstrated experience proofreading, editing and writing technical documentation; and • Must have strong experience in planning, organizing, and tracking assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications: • Top Secret security clearance; • Proven independent proposal development capability; • Experience with one or more of IERUS’s mission specialties; and • Experience with one or more of IERUS’s core competencies.
