The Disaster Risk Finance & Parametrics (DRFP) team within WTW Risk and Analytics brings decades of experience in climate and disaster risk finance policy and practice, with unrivalled expertise in parametric insurance and forecast-based finance, risk data analytics and modelling, and parametric index design and risk transfer programme implementation for climate and other natural hazards. The DRFP team, working closely alongside colleagues in the Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) team, focuses on providing risk advisory, quantification, analytics, and research, as well as finance and policy advisory services for global, regional, and (sub-)state level natural disaster risk management and financing for Governments, regional risk pools, conservation and humanitarian organisations, and international financial institutions around the world. The work of the team focuses particularly on the four strands of DRF Strategy Advisory and (Sub-)Sovereign Risk Pooling, Climate-Resilient Debt, Anticipatory Action and Humanitarian Finance, and Ecosystem Resilience.
The role
In this full-time role, you will work closely with the DRFP team, the broader Alternative Risk Transfer Practice, as well as the Climate Practice, WTW stakeholders and public sector clients to organise, support and improve a number of our key ways of working. You will quickly be the go-to person in the DRFP team to help us coordinate activities that feed into our collective aims and objectives, ensure project delivery and client satisfaction and facilitate compliance with company-wide excellence standards. You will also help coordinate the internal and external knowledge and marketing campaigns for the DRFP team and support the quality assurance of interim and final project outputs.
Key responsibilities
Lead key administrative activities associated with the management of smaller and medium-sized projects, including acquisition, contracting, execution, and closure, and facilitating and ensuring compliance with company-wide excellence and quality management standards related to project and knowledge management (e.g., KYC checks, etc.)
Support administrative activities for larger, strategic projects
Assist in key operational activities including resource management, financial planning, invoicing and knowledge management
Support the planning, progress and delivery of effective and efficient ways of working and coordinating across the DRFP and ART teams
Support the development, implementation and oversight of the team’s marketing and communication outputs and strategy in collaboration with the WTW marketing team and coordinate our internal and external knowledge, marketing, and communication campaigns: intranet, website, social media, webinars and in-person events
Assist with technical research tasks during project development and implementation as needed, and support quality assurance related to interim and final project deliverables, including through, for example, review and editorial of project reports
Support liaising with offices and teams world-wide to support the engagement of DRFP activities within regional offices
The Requirements
Previous experience of project management and Ieading business operations improvement programmes or similar
Excellent, proven project coordination skills
Genuine interest in climate risk and resilience, and ability to adapt to and learn new areas of expertise
Good writing skills and ability to comprehend, break down and simplify complex issues such as climate risk and communicate them in effective ways
Enthusiasm, self-motivation and drive
The ability to work both in a team and autonomously, with a general willingness to learn and grow within a global market leader
Strong inter-personal skills, and ability to deploy effective communication techniques in internal and external stakeholder meetings
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritise project work
Familiarity with academia, and interest in bridging the gap between research and industry would be advantageous
Background and experience in developing knowledge and communication outputs and strategies, including in relationship to climate resilience, would be a plus
