Job Description
Position Overview
As a SCADA Project Engineer, you will be on the construction teamresponsible for the engineering, procurement and commissioning ofsupervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA) systems and associatedcommunications infrastructure related to cutting-edge renewable energyprojects. You will be responsible for coordinating with multiplestakeholders to develop conceptual designs. You will be responsible formanaging the procurement, final detailed designs, commissioning, andacceptance testing on renewable energy projects. The SCADA & IT systemsof these projects may include RTACs, RTUs, plant controllers, networkswitches, firewalls, annunciators, HMIs and all associated connectivityon wind, solar and battery storage renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
Specification and configuration of SCADA, power plant controller,RTU, & IT equipmentDevelop conceptual project designs that comply with all criticalstakeholder and interconnection requirementsCreation of conceptual block diagramsConduct thorough reviews of detailed design drawingsTrack design schedules, update all stakeholders and ensure thatcritical dates are met on time.Organize and transfer all as-built documentation to operations teamincluding schematics, bills of materials, and programming settingsCoordinate the procurement and installation of necessary telecomservices.Interface with plant controller manufacturers, transmissionoperators, generator owners and operators to configure systems asneeded.Coordinate networking equipment configuration including specifyingphysical interfaces and protocols, assigning IP addresses, andadministration of firewall rules.Monitor construction progress remotely and via on-site inspections.Support resolution of any field issues. Attend in-person meetingswith stakeholders. Provide on-site programming and field supportduring commissioning.Verify that all applicable NERC requirements are considered andfulfilled.Lead efforts with project team to develop operational plans toenergize, commission, and turnover projects while maintaining NERCcompliance.Coordinate with independent engineers and project partners toeffectively navigate the technical due diligence process.Assist in the development of new projects by analyzing conceptualdesigns and RFQ specifications.Coordinate with operations engineering and third party customers toincorporate lessons learned into new designsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology through varioustraining sessions and conferencesRequired Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or relateddegree.Knowledge of generation SCADA systems acquired through 3 to 7+ yearsof relevant work experience.Knowledge of both the physical and software aspects of networkingequipment that connect renewable energy assets Advanced knowledgeand programming of SCADA, HMI, PLC platformsExperience and familiarity with various industrial communicationprotocols and architectures such as OPC, DNP3, ModBus and EGD.Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure(substations/switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines,transformers, relays, meter , CTs, and PTs)Prior installation, commissioning and site construction experiencein renewable power generationExperience working on GE WindSCADA, GE WindCONTROL, SEL RTAC, GPMSCADA, and/ or GPM PPC is preferredWorking knowledge of NERC compliance for low impact cyber systemsAbility to coordinate and manage multiple concurrent projects.Considerable knowledge in computer and server operation.Strong project management skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsUp to 25% travel required.Benefits
