About Project Engineer

Description:

A project engineer is the project champion and is responsible for establishing project plans, coordinating project reviews, and ensuring the proper implementation of project elements. This position will assist the Program Manager or Product Manager with the scheduling, planning, forecasting, providing adequate resources/ assets to achieve objectives, relaying updates to client/customer, and overseeing technical, procurement, and compliance activities.

This position has final design decision authority to drive projects based on inputs from team members and engineering management.

• Track and proactively action milestones (listed below) for assigned projects (50%)

Proposal and quoting

Contract review

Project kickoff

Project / Design review(s)

Job Order Creation

Kitting Completion

Quoting and purchase order completion

Initial hardware build

Handoff to Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) group (if needed)

Project Completion

• Provide direction to team members to achieve project milestones (15%)

• Ensure actions are being taken to mitigate risk throughout the project (15%)

• Assist business leader/program manager by providing project updates maintain alignment of project and business goals(10%)

• Escalate systematic issues to management for resolution (5%)

• React and address project abnormalities by developing and executing an effective and efficient recovery plan. (5%)

• Provide feedback to management regarding team member performance

• All other actions related to New Product Development (NPD) Project completion as needed/directed/required.

• Refine specification from customer into a producible product

• Ensure delivery of compliant hardware and where applicable First Article Inspection Report (FAIR)

• Travel expectations 1-3 trips a year.

Additional Skills Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience (4-6 years).

• Minimum 8 years of Manufacturing or Engineering experience required .

• Minimum of 4 years of experience directly working with customers in a project managing capacity

• Experience in NPI/NPD processes, required.

• Excellent computer literacy (MS suite) and working knowledge of project management (MS project) and Design (Solid works) software.

• Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.

• Experience in motor design or manufacturing preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to read and follow prints, work instructions and other manufacturing documentation.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification or other specialized certification preferred.

• Experience of AS9100 quality and business standards preferred.
