Description

A small family owned General Contractor in Purcellville seeks a Construction Project Accountant. Qualifications are as follows:

Subcontractor Accounts Payable, including a general knowledge of retainage, percent of completion billing, waivers, reconciliation of change orders and back charges etc.

Client invoicing using AIA invoice format (required) and must have a good understanding of this billing concept.

Job cost analysis and reporting. Must possess excellent excel skills and a sharpness to perform reconciliations between committed costs, actual costs, P.O. values, and under/over billings and payments.

Self starter, excellent attention to detail, reliable, able to work in a small work environment, excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing. .

Candidate with a minimum of two years of experience in a job cost accounting environment, construction is preferred.

This position fully encompasses the entire process of project accounting from billing the owner to filing your own paperwork. Experience using Sage Timberline 300CRE and Procore a plus.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

We are inviting applications for the role of a Project Accountant in Purcellville, Virginia. The successful candidate will be part of our team, where they will be instrumental in maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. This role is instrumental in the successful management of our company's financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Sage 300 in the execution of accounting duties

• Manage the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Maintain the general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.

• Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.

• Coordinate and complete annual audits and serve as a key contact for auditors.

• Review and improve processes and lead ongoing process improvement initiatives.

• Perform monthly bank settlements.

• Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.

• Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.

• Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes.

• Assist with and act as the primary point-of-contact for auditor requests.

• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.

• Proven experience in a similar role within the accounting or finance sector.

• Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage 300.

• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Willingness to continue professional development and stay updated on current industry trends and regulations.
