Overview
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator at Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Program Coordinator I provides high-level support for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) programs and initiatives at RBS. This position will coordinate, organize, implement, and manage RBS IDEA programs, initiatives, and projects that fall under the RBS IDEA Office. This position will support recruiting, engagement, retention, academic success, and professional development of students from historically underrepresented and underserved backgrounds. This includes supporting the administration and implementation of the following programs: RBS NextUP, RBS PREP, RBS B-STAR, RBS DLI, RBS C.E.O. Network, RBS IDEA Scholarship Program, as well as future programs and initiatives within the purview of the RBS IDEA Office to be established. This also consists of supporting the day-to-day operations of projects, planning, preparation, evaluation, communications, events, records, statistics, program reports, and documents.

Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Program Coordinator I provides high-level support for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Office programs and initiatives at RBS. This position will coordinate, organize, implement, and manage RBS IDEA programs, initiatives, and projects that fall under the RBS IDEA Office. This position will support recruiting, engagement, retention, academic success, and professional development of students from historically underrepresented and underserved backgrounds. This includes supporting the administration and implementation of the following programs: RBS NextUP, RBS PREP, RBS B-STAR, RBS DLI, RBS C.E.O. Network, RBS IDEA Scholarship Program, as well as future programs and initiatives within the purview of the RBS IDEA Office to be established. This also consists of supporting the day-to-day operations of projects, planning, preparation, evaluation, communications, events, records, statistics, program reports, and documents.This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Manages processes, evaluates program effectiveness, and researches program resources.
  • Supports advertising and manages recruitment strategy to increase student engagement and involvement in RBS IDEA programs. Develops and maintains a master schedule of all programs and activities.
  • This position supports the daily operational procedures of the RBS IDEA Office, including student meetings, collecting and maintaining accurate records and student data for use in various departmental reports.
  • Supports the maintenance of RBS IDEA Office webpages.
  • Manages the production of electronic and printed marketing materials.
  • Develops and maintains social media and software platforms to enhance communications with current students, prospective students, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • This position must also be able to manage other duties as assigned throughout the year demonstrating the capability to synthesize new information and use it to create positive change.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to off campus events, K-12 schools throughout NJ, and businesses in the NY/NJ metro area is required.
  • This position will require frequent evening and weekend hours. Travel between campuses is expected.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.   Qualifications

  

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates a deep knowledge and understanding of program design and execution, coordination, organization, facilitation, data collection, general research principles and practices, report analysis, writing, social media networking, and promotion/outreach.
  • Requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of major academic and diversity issues with a demonstrated, clear understanding of the importance of a diverse and inclusive environment in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of EEO practices in a higher education.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills are necessary. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher are required.
  • Ability to work well individually as well as on the team and represent the RBS IDEA Office, Rutgers Business School, and Rutgers University professionally and enthusiastically.
  • A firm understanding of academic support services is required.
  • Must be self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and be able to interact effectively with diverse populations including students, high-level administrators, and business professionals.
  • Requires the ability to work cooperatively with others, manage multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Firm understanding of and experience working with issues related to under-represented minority groups, underserved K-12 school districts and services. Experience in higher education is also required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to off campus events, and businesses in the NY/NJ metro area is required.
  • This position will often require evening and weekend hours.
  • Weekly travel between campuses is expected. Must use personal vehicle for travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • -2 to 4 years of relevant experience preferably in higher education.
  • Should have an understanding of and experience with issues related to, working with under-represented minority groups, underserved school districts, first generation student needs, multicultural programs and services.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically.
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion.
  • Objective thinker who handles confidential information in an impartial manner.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creative ability to build contacts/networks among internal and external constituencies.
  • A high degree of diplomacy, personal integrity, ethics and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty staff and administrators.
  • Acquaintance with Rutgers academic policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with best practices for student success and academic advising

  • Familiarity with recruitment systems and the ability to stay current on diversity programs offered by the University and other professional organizations.
  • Extensive experience coordinating major programs and events, preferably in a higher education setting.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This position requires the ability to perform in a dynamic fast paced environment and communicate effectively with multiple constituencies, tactfully, and diplomatically.
