Job Description
BAE Systems has an immediate need for a highly qualified Program Area Manager to support U.S. Navy programs involving weapon system engineering in the area of System Integration. The Program Area Manager will report directly to the Deputy Program Manager of Systems Engineering on the Systems Engineering & Integration engineering services contract supporting the Strategic Systems Programs Office.
The System Integration process provides a framework to assemble, in a systematic method, all of the various elements, assemblies, and subsystems, working iteratively with verification, until the weapon system is completely assembled and satisfies form, fit and functional design requirements.
To be successful, the candidate must be skilled in the business and program management processes that enable effective program structuring, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and in customer relationship building. The candidate must also have prior experience leading System Integration teams responsible for system-level integration activities across the engineering lifecycle for multiple subsystems simultaneously executing their respective subsystem engineering processes.
The ability to communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and lead in a visible and proactive manner is an imperative aspect of the role, and will be evaluated equally alongside specific, applied experiences. Experience with contract management, financial accounting, resource allocation, and employee performance processes is required. The ideal candidate will be highly engaging, team-oriented, customer-focused, and able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment.
Key roles and responsibilities include: 1) developing a close and trusted relationship with customers at all levels enabling enhancement of our service delivery to those customers; 2) serving as one of the primary program management interfaces between customers and the BAE Systems program organization, facilitating a successful partnership and approach to contract execution and financial salient performance 3) synthesizing customer future needs and opportunities into actionable and measurable plans; 4) informing internal business and program leaders regarding contract management risks and opportunities, ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive approach to service delivery across the program; and 5) contributing to workforce development initiatives, ensuring that organizational skills and competencies remain relevant to projected requirements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and years of relevant/related experience required: Bachelor s Degree in engineering or related field and at least 10 years related/relevant work experience.
Also required:
Experience managing services contracts within the Department of Defense
Advanced conceptual thinking in complex and/or completely new situations
Defining professional/technical direction and strategy
Experience performing system level weapon system integration across the lifecycle of the system
Experience using descriptive and analytical models to continually assess the maturity of the system
Experience leveraging software and hardware in the loop test capabilities to facilitate system level integration
Serving as a skilled communicator who influences and shapes the image of a complex program area
Negotiating internally and externally at high levels or with persons of influence frequently
Extensive experience managing personnel
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP or CSEP)
Experience with business capture and proposal strategy/authoring
Experience defining professional/technical direction and strategy
Ability to facilitate and lead growth of a program
Experience within the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Office and the Strategic Weapon System
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $140690 - $239140

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
