Summary About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)). Temporary appointment NTE 1 year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. Responsibilities Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and military leaders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families. Analyze child and youth programs; establish goals and measures supporting the needs of service members and their families. Develop a variety of programs, services, and training responsive to the needs of service members and their families. Function as an expert to formulate policies and strategies to promote child and youth programs. Develop policies, strategies, support implementation, and administration of policy, and strategic plans. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating child and youth development programs, collaborating with stakeholders to address the needs of service members and their families, and developing or analyzing policy and procedures regarding child and youth development programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
