  The School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University is soliciting applications for a Professor of Practice or Senior Lecturer faculty position. An exceptional individual with significant, significant experience in various aspects of operations research in industry, academia or other equivalent non-academic organizations is sought. There is also the potential of a lecturer who has enough experience to be considered for promotion to senior lecturer within two years of appointment to be considered. Candidates must be highly motivated to enrich the experience of students and faculty by bringing to Cornell a deep understanding of effective practices in real-world settings.

  The Professor of Practice/Senior Lecturer will be expected to develop and lead a range of activities to prepare Cornell students for success working in complex organizations.

  Specific responsibilities include:

  Develop and implement a vision to grow and enhance the Master of Engineering (MEng) program, including the final semester of the Financial Engineering concentration based at Cornell Financial Engineering Manhattan (CFEM).

  Contribute to the admissions process for the MEng program.

  Select and award financial aid packages to exceptional MEng students.

  Orient and advise students in the MEng program.

  Organize an annual slate of MEng projects and provide advisory and administrative support as needed.

  Assist in MEng career development.

  Award degrees.

  Build and maintain contact with alumni and organizations.

  Coordinate and lead ORIE 5110: Case Studies, a one-credit course that occurs in the fall in preparation for the MEng project.

  Teach ORIE 5215/5915: FE/MEng Career Practicum in the fall.

  Administer ORIE 9110: Master of Engineering Professional Review to Ithaca-based students as needed.

  Teach one course each year, the course to be agreed upon by you and the Director.

  The Professor of Practice/Senior Lecturer is expected to have a technical background. A Ph.D. in an engineering or related scientific or technical field is strongly preferred, but candidates with a bachelor's degree in an appropriate STEM field plus advanced degrees in business or related fields may be considered based on experience. Professors of Practice, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers at Cornell are non-tenure track and typically hold renewable appointments of up to five years.

  Pay Range:

  $49,700.00 - $119,000.00

  Pay Ranges:

  The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  Prior relevant work or industry experience.

  Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
