About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. Responsibilities Serve as supervisor over the Directorate of Production overhaul facilities and off site combat equipment support Determine the internal plan to be followed by subordinate supervisors in applying resources to effectively accomplish work operations. Participate with higher level management officials and staff organizations in developing recommendations concerning changes in work techniques and standards; revision of organization structures; and improvement of facility layout and workflow. Assign and explain work requirements to subordinate levels of supervision, sets deadlines and sequence of operations, direct rearrangement of space and development of specialized tools and equipment as necessary. Review and analyze production, cost, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and to control or reduce costs. Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, make formal appraisals of their work performance, and determines long-range training needs for all levels of subordinate supervisors and workers. Promote and administer a variety of management programs for the units supervised, such as safety, cost reduction, incentive awards, beneficial suggestions, and quality assurance within policies and procedures established by higher authority. Ensure that personnel are properly trained in and observe/follow all aspects of hazardous materials/waste management. Serving as a technical and administrative supervisor in the operations of production operations exercising full supervisory responsibilities. Ability to plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Ability to explain work requirements, methods, and procedures and provide advice when problems arise. Ability to develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
