This position is accountable for ensuring that all plant production units are running safely, efficiently and producing the proper amount of product as indicated by the production plan and meeting quality specifications. The production supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising all operators and the two QA technicians at the facility and providing the leadership needed to maximize unit effectiveness. As required, the individual in this position will take timely corrective action when process or personnel problems arise. This is a salary exempt position and is a day shift position. However, the individual will have to work on midnight shift occasionally.Utilizes effective leadership over direct reports to maximize employee productivity and contribution from each of the process areas.Work with Maintenance and the production scheduler to coordinate maintenance activities for the site to minimize cost and downtime.Cover off-shifts as needed.Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.Works with the Columbus Site Manager and members of staff to ensure the goals and objectives of the production area.Ensures adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all operations personnel.Implements and/or administers all policies and procedures designed for operations department.Trains and develops personnel to provide a sufficient skill base for a safe, efficient production facility.Recognizes the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.Assist chemical operators as needed which includes charging and packaging mixers including wearing appropriate PPE which may include wearing a respirator.Be able to lift fifty pounds safely.Safely operate an industrial lift truck (sit down)Prepare and Issue Permits for High Hazard work.Review and correct errors on process orders and ensure Cycle counts are accurate and completed by hourly personnel.Ensure adequate inventories of operational supplies are on hand for production.
