Job Summary The Production Department Supervisor isresponsible for the overall operation of its department consistent withcost, profit and production goals. It is responsible for the trainingand development of its employees. Relies on experience and judgment toplan and accomplish goals some creativity and latitude is expected worksunder the supervision of a manager Develops methods and assists in itsimplementation to achieve plans and goals of the department. PrincipleDuties and Responsibilities Manages the production operation of multipledepartments multiple shifts. Manages the activity of a group ofemployees and motivates for maximum productivity. Identifies,researches, and resolves various problems and opportunities. Evaluatesperformance of individuals and various programs. Coaches and counsels\'employees. Manages activities consistent with all UFP policies,procedures, and applicable law. Communicates to employees and othermanagement members as required. Manages cost and profitability of thedepartment. Manages department inventory Leads employees in continuousimprovement and safety initiatives. Prepares reports and maintainsrecords as required. Participates in Safety Committee and ensures thatdepartment is in compliance with established safety standards. Performsother duties as required. If assigned to Treating Department, performsduties consistent with hazardous material handling procedures andpractices. May drive a forklift to assist moving material to and fromthe production area Performs other duties as required. QualificationsPost high school education is required Minimum 3 to 5 years ofexperience in manufacturing 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.Working knowledge of production reporting and production schedulingWorking knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software.Basic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades and species.
