  About you and this role –

  Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer located in Deer Park, TX.

  The Production Engineer serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low-cost, quality products. Requires broadened conceptual and working knowledge and experience in job discipline to perform a range of work assignments.

  Responsibilities –

  Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise.

  Responsibility for two world-scale reactors oxidizing propylene to acrylic acid via gas-phase heterogeneous catalysis

  Partner with Dow’s Technology Center to lower propylene usage, methane usage, and carbon dioxide production in alignment with Dow’s corporate sustainability goals

  Apply critical reasoning and engineering fundamentals to root cause investigations and troubleshooting

  Monitor key performance indicators and manage process safety hazards for various process technologies, including reactors, absorption and stripping columns, fired equipment, and steam boilers.

  Supports Acrylic Acid reaction technology; This role will be the primary support for the plant reactors.

  Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).

  Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized, and process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.

  Utilizes defined MET and challenges/escalates MET application and assumptions when better solutions arise.

  Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.

  Diagnoses and documents root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.

  Understand why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keep a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.

  Conducts daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.

  Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.

  Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.

  Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

  Provides leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.

  Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understand site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

  Role may require up to 5% travel. Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world-wide.

  Qualifications –

  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  At least 2 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience is required.

  A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations –

  Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.

  Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

  Stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.

  Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes and goggles.

  Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.

  Work in an area with hazardous materials.

  This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
