The Product Engineer II - Combustion role will work in collaboration with Sustaining Engineering Management and the Product Engineering team. This role will develop into the technical leader, and ultimately become the electric/gas heat system design authority for sustaining products. The Product Engineer II - Combustion role is a key role that drives projects based on the best total value to DAA from a cost down, quality, efficiency (X to C), and factory capacity (BOM Accuracy) perspective based on input from ISC, OPS, Quality, Marketing, and Engineering. The VAVE engineer is a key individual who brings the multiple functional areas together to drive projects that have been identified as the best value to the overall business and benefit each functional group. This VAVE engineer will focus on building subject matter expertise in combustion engineering to support cost down, but also factory and warranty issues. A Day in the Life: Project Management/Leadership Own all aspects of project design and delivery including hitting committed milestones, clearly communicating roadblocks to organizational leaders, multi-task key deliverables, and drive to completion with minimal oversight. Drive partnerships with a cross functional team including Supply Chain, Marketing, Operations, Quality, to deliver engineering solutions. Provide leadership to direct the activities of technical personnel assigned to projects, including Lab Technicians, Test Engineers, Designers, or BOM Configuration programmers. Technology Conduct experimental evaluation and practical development of turbo machinery and sealed system combustion including working knowledge of instruments and transducers available for airflow, sound, fluid flow, thermal and structural analysis. Use technical theories of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and HVAC fundamentals applied to air handler products including the use of both computational analysis methods and lab test apparatus. Create product designs that maximize manufacturing capabilities and incorporate lean manufacturing techniques by driving a strong partnership with manufacturing personnel. Collaborate or coordinate efforts necessary to maintain compliance with agencies such as ETL, UL, and AHRI Stay abreast of emerging technologies & maintain technical competency in relevant subject matter areas via industry relationships, professional associations (ASHRAE, AHRI, NEC), & technical publications to maintain awareness of basic research activities, materials, or processes, working fluids, regulatory implications, & supplier or competitive actions. Engineering Efficiency Maintain flexibility in multiple different business unit tools and develop methods to consolidate methodology. Complete and maintain documentation for each project - stage gate workbook, team dashboards, ECR/ECO's, programming decision trees, and engineering standards.
