  Job Description :

  Procurement Category Specialist, Glass

  Purpose:

  To support delivery excellence for North American Procurement within the Glass category! Support the Glass Category Manager in development of appropriate relationships with key partners, developing and implementing short and long term category strategy and partner with Finance and budget holders to contribute and deliver against specific goals as they relate to this category!

  Financial Responsibility:

  North American Procurement is a significant contributor to Diageo Trading Profit growth; and Brand Building (for top line growth). This role will support spend coverage of approximately $190M.

  Management Responsibility:

  This role has responsibility for supporting the NA Glass category from strategy development to execution.

  Responsible for leading the supplier management process for all key suppliers.

  Responsible for driving increased value from supplier relationships within category (which may vary from open market commodity purchases to long-term single sourced relationships).

  Support on all sourcing activities within this category.

  Support/participate in additional projects as needed.

  Functional knowledge of the category required to identify strategic and tactical opportunities.

  Prioritizes and complete the highest value opportunities, both new value and value protection/improvement.

  Ability to prioritize and focus on delivering business goals.

  Complexity of Role:

  Requires working across multiple locations across North America

  Influences multiple key senior stakeholders across Supply businesses.

  Needs to build the right environment for success against a backdrop of diverse and often conflicting business needs.

  Requires an understanding of market dynamics.

  Requires management of a number of outsourced relationships.

  Key Outputs:

  Support development of, agree, and implement cross functional category strategy.

  Lead and achieve/exceed the performance targets agreed within strategy, with direction from Glass Category Manager.

  Establish and maintain compliance processes through contracts and other governance processes.

  In conjunction with Global Procurement and business owners, ensure effective supplier long term relationships exist that build sustainable value for both parties.

  Handle performance of outsourced suppliers through a cadence of business reviews.

  Qualifications and Experience:

  3-5 years of procurement/value chain or relevant commercial experience in a consumer products environment.

  Proven track record of consistent performance and delivery (what & how of performance)

  Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

  Strong customer service orientation

  Strong communications skills

  Excellent Functional Capabilities:

  Good understanding of the category management process with experience of deployment in at least one category

  Demonstrated experience in sourcing and successful negotiation.

  Generates good industry insights and the impact these have for Procurement and Diageo.

  Shown ability to build effective Supplier relationships.

  Excellent Leadership Capabilities:

  Good influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior partners.

  Ability to operate and successfully managing variety of senior partners across a global matrix structure.

  Ability to establish/ maintain effective communication with partners across global business.

  Strong commercial competence, understanding of the business, and judgement.

  Good facilitation capability.

  Experience in participating in cross functional change projects.
