Job Summary:
The Glycols Process Specialist is responsible for managing the reliability and knowledge base for plant shared processes - systems that are shared between departments or between plants (air, nitrogen, steam, condensate, etc). The Process Specialist will maintain reactor catalyst stock and storage, and work with Research on material needs. They will manage or assist with large and small projects, which could include process improvement, infrastructure, or equipment reliability. They will participate in any layered audit needs, and assist with keeping SOPs and ESLPs updated. The Glycols Process Specialist reports to the Plant Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Identify and execute on improvement opportunities regarding SOP updates, ESLP updates, and process improvements.
Through a zero loss mindset, partner with department and plant leadership to determine and lead short, medium and long term projects and engagements to mitigate and eliminate plant losses.
Continuously apply Performance Excellence tools to in efforts to contribute to the continuous improvement and readiness of the Glycols facility.
Lead Focused Improvement (FI) projects.
Implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to solve problems, including but not limited to Why-Why, 6M, and Breakdown analysis (BDA).
Provide training, mentoring, and transfer knowledge to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Understand their role in food safety and quality systems, is actively engaged in plant and food safety efforts, and ensures conformance to good manufacturing practices.
Manage and maintain Glycols Reactor Catalyst stock and storage.
Mentor to new colleagues when needed.
Assist in managing large maintenance or CapEx projects, including covering any leadership shift-work needs.
Manage small projects for process improvements.
Other duties necessary to continuously improve the facility and effectively manage changes.
Job Experience/Skills:
5+ years of experience in plant operations.
Experience leading a team or teams is preferred but not required, as this position currently has no direct reports.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work across functions including both verbal and written. This position interacts with various engineers, operators, maintenance, contractors, and plant leadership.
Creative/analytical problem solving skills and innovative approaches to resolve complex problems.
Strong Microsoft skills such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Demonstration of a commitment to utilize Performance Excellence tools and strategies to solve acute and chronic plant issues.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions such as hot and cold temperatures and dusty environments.
Must be able to work safely with various chemicals.
