Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Development Operations, Cell Culture department located at our Fremont facility. As an Intern, you will learn about cell culture processes from thaw to production, maintain CHO cell cultures, analyze data, and enhance your organization, collaboration, and multitasking soft skills.

Duties & Responsibilities
Report to diverse team of scientists and engineers.
Gain real world industrial experience in process development areas in cell culture (including but not limited to maintenance of mammalian cell cultures from thaw to harvest, operation of bioreactors using fed-batch method, data analysis, etc.)
Gain exposure to core techniques for successful independent research projects (including but not limited to literature research, novel high throughput instruments and presentation skills).
Applies academic and other experiential knowledge and skills to complete assigned work with supervision.
Understands and applies basic scientific, math or other business principles with guidance.
Effectively interprets, assesses, and communicates data in the area assigned.
Complies with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, performing all work in a safe manner.
Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Requirements
Requirements:
Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in biochemical engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, life sciences, or related fields, in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Expertise in sterile fermentation techniques, preferably mammalian cell culture
Strong chemistry, engineering and/or molecular biology skills are ideal
Experience with CHO cells and/or with bioreactors is a plus.
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
