Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to support, improve and optimize the manufacturing operation under the direction of the Sr. Manufacturing/OPEX Leader. The process engineer is primarily responsible for leading/supporting multiple teams/projects and acting as the technical resource for the operational excellence/production area for existing and new products. Interface with personnel to actively troubleshoot problems as well as continually improve the process. Ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved as they pertain to Safety, Quality, Production, Cost Standards, and Operational Excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Write / amend work instructions or SOPs as needed.
Support major projects as a technical resource.
Identify and implement systemic improvements (batch record standardization, etc.).
Support training department as needed.
Support customer audits and visits.
Support cleanout validation and process re-validation efforts.
DEPARTMENT SPECFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
All other duties as assigned with or without accommodations.
Will serve as back-up to Production Supervisor role.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Occasional travel (less than 25%) to other manufacturing locations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Four-year engineering degree required (preferably Chemical)Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing industry (preferable pharmaceutical industry)
Training in Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing (certification preferred).
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and plant support systems.
Experience and training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar programs.
Experience in driving efficiency improvements and cost savings in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Skills/Competencies:
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and various database software.
Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
Basic supervisory skills.
Other Skills:
Demonstrate initiative and ability to perform as part of a team.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
