What you will do
The Process Development Associate at Amgen supports the development of manufacturing processes by conducting experiments, analysing data, and documenting results. They work closely with senior scientists and engineers to implement process improvements. The successful candidate will apply chemistry and process engineering knowledge to support development, technology transfer and ongoing cGMP production of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) processes via chemical synthesis.
Responsibilities
Execute laboratory-based experiments and data collation in conjunction with drug substance colleagues to support small-scale model interrogation, investigations, and process improvements.
Support Process Development laboratory operation.
Transfer processes and process improvements from the laboratory / remote pilot plants / into manufacturing facilities
Provide on-the-floor technical support for successful scale-up / technology transfer / troubleshooting issues.
Perform and/or support experiments in the lab when required to resolve technical issues observed during scale-up / manufacturing at large scale / or facility constraints.
Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills in technical writing and presentations.
Represent Process Development and interface with other functions such as Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Supply Chain and Regulatory
Managing PD lab facilities and equipment maintenance
Ensure that safe laboratory practices are followed.
Ensure that compliance and laboratory procedure are in place.

What we expect of you
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience directly related to the job OR
Associate degree and 4 years of experience directly related to the job OR
High School Diploma / GED and 6 years of experience directly related to the job
Hands-on experience in running synthetic chemistry at bench scale.
Experience in supporting synthetic chemistry processes for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing.
Experience in performing process characterization studies utilizing a design of experiment (DoE) approach (and data analysis using JMP software)
A scientific track record which may include peer reviewed publications, scientific conference participation.
Experience with the use of analytical instruments and interpreting the scientific data based upon these techniques.
Demonstrated communication and scientific writing skills.
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Empower C
