Job Announcement
This position entails counseling, care and direct supervision of residents in a community-based residential setting. An employee in this position is an essential employee and is responsible for the group home operation during a 24-hour rotating shift schedule. In addition, this employee provides counseling and case management services to residents and their families in the program.
Assists the Unit Director and Assistant Director in the daily operations of the program. While on duty, in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director, assumes responsibility for all problematic situations that may arise. Supervises, oversees and directs house routines, therapeutic program and maintains behavioral norms for residents. Develops treatment plan objectives and strategies to achieve those objectives with program residents.
Works with court personnel and other service providers to coordinate case planning services for residents. Formulates, coordinates and implements assigned areas of group home programming, i.e. recreation, volunteers, staff training and community services. Responsible for on-board training of all newly hired staff and helps coordinate all necessary/mandated training for Shelter Care staff in order for the facility to meet licensing requirements.
Position is directly supervised by the Unit Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in social/behavioral sciences, criminal justice, or education plus two years of professional experience in probation work, social work, criminal justice, juvenile justice, education, or counseling. A master's degree in the disciplines above may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver's License is required at the time of application
Medication Management (Required within 6 months)
ServeSafe (Required within 6 months)
CPR/First Aid (Required within 30 days)
Handle With Care (Required within 30 days
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is considered "essential personnel" and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One to three years of experience working with court-involved adolescents in a residential setting.
Ability to navigate complex behavioral problems and respond to crisis situations.
Possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work a varied schedule consisting of days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Duties require the ability to physically restrain acting out residents.
Must be able to supervise and participate in educational and recreational activities with adolescents.
Visual and auditory acuity.
