  Description

  Job Summary:

  Provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Participates in the coordination of care.

  Requirements

  Job Qualifications:

  Education: Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.

  Licensure: Current State License to practice occupational therapy, or if licensure does not apply, meets the requirements listed in 42 CFR §484.115(g). Current driver’s license.

  Experience: One year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred.

  Skills: Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills. Proof of current CPR.

  Transportation: Reliable transportation and current and valid auto liability insurance.

  Environmental and Working Conditions:

  Works in a health care facility or patients’/clients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids

  and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.

  Physical and Mental Effort:

  Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires

  working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs and to meet patient/client and family

  individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  Essential Functions:

  Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated and supervised by the OT. Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.

  Facilitates patients’/clients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’/clients’ ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.

  Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient/client care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.

  Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients/clients.

  Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient/client and caregiver education.

  Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance as necessary.

  Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.

  Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.

  Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in Agency-sponsored in-service training.
