Position Description:
Principal Technical Sourcing Specialist for Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, MN. Multiple positions available. Serve as contact between R&D and suppliers to develop critical medical devices. Responsible for the reduction and mitigation of risk, improving timelines and developing lasting relationship that are critical to meeting business and technical challenges. Engage and utilize processes to coordinate New Product Development (NPD) and risk reduction activities with suppliers. Responsible for cross-functional collaboration and driving the adoption of Capable Technologies & Sources in Product Development. Conduct Make vs Buy analysis, supplier selection and develop sourcing strategies to deliver predictable supply & competitiveness. Responsible for risk assessment plans, time matrices, and test strategy (Plans and Reports). Provide Project Mgmt. for Sourcing deliverables and communication with cross-functional groups and suppliers. Responsible for Product Validation and Supplier Quality to include technical aspects of projects. Utilize Design Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) tools and risk mitigation. Leverage Critical Feature Identification (CFI), Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) to develop inspection methods with Suppliers. Conduct IQ/OQ/PQ activities with internal and external suppliers. Provide cross-commodity sourcing for NPD groups and support Mergers & Acquisition supply base transfers. Track supplied component Quality, Supply Risk, Material Cost, Response / Lead Time, & Technology advancement for new products. Position is open to telecommuting from anywhere in the United States. Requires up to 25% travel to suppliers and conferences within the U.S. and internationally. #LI-DNI
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering or related engineering field and five (5) years of experience as a technical sourcing specialist or closely related occupation. Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience with each of the following: supplier selection and developing technical sourcing strategies; risk assessment plans, time matrices, and test strategy (Plans and Reports); Project Mgmt. for Sourcing deliverables; Product Validation and/or Supplier Quality; DRM, Critical Feature Identification, and PFMEA; IQ/OQ/PQ; cross-commodity sourcing; and tracking and managing supplied component Quality, Supply Risk, Material Cost, Response / Lead Time, and Technology advancement.
