Job Description

As part of Data Services organization, we are passionate about enabling data users and data architects to build large scale data applications at ease, from processing healthcare data for medical research, network anomaly detection to AI machine learning and model training. We build and integrate multiple data frameworks from open-source ecosystem to enable these data applications to run seamlessly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

OCI Data Flow is a fully managed Apache Spark service that performs processing tasks on extremely large datasets, without infrastructure to deploy or manage. Data engineers can use Spark Structured Streaming to process their streaming data in a continuous fashion with minimum data latency. Jupyter Notebook integration enabled data scientists to perform ad-hoc analysis on petabytes of data in Data Lake, backed by OCI Object Storage or other storage platforms.

We are looking for principal or senior principal software engineer who is excited to scale large distributed system, build next-generation SQL query engine, optimize performance with data storage system, and develop seamless enterprise grade security.

What we look for:

BS (or higher) in Computer Science or related engineering fields.

8+ years of career experiences in Java or Scala. Knowledge in Python is a plus.

Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.

Hands-on experiences in operating cloud based data systems at scale.

Experiences in distributed systems, databases, and big data systems (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Hadoop and/or SQL).

Experiences to lead complex software projects from initial design to execution.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $150,200 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
