Charter Communications, Inc. in Englewood, CO seeks Principal Engineer Ito provide technical expertise on a team responsible for developing thehardware, algorithms, and software of Wi-Fi routers. Define thearchitecture and design of Charter Advanced Wi-Fi products and features.Partner with product team to define technology solutions and requirements.Develop long-term technology evolution roadmap (3-5 years) articulatingthe strategic decision points, technology evolution plans, andrecommendations regarding technology and network infrastructure investments.Collaborate with feature and firmware teams to evaluate architecture andsolutions. Define architecture and solutions for Wi-Fi features and equipmentaddressing customer-centric wireless use cases. Research and develop wirelesstechnologies and solutions for use at customer premises. Define requirementsfor Wi-Fi hardware and features. Develop test plans and test cases to validateproposed requirements. Analyze large datasets to assist in proactive networkmanagement of larger wireless networks. Collaborate with product owners,vendors, and management to determine and manage functional andnon-functional software requirements for Wireless Technology initiativesefforts. Perform in depth performance analysis of wireless networks andproducts using test equipment such as RF chambers, protocol analyzers andtraffic, and waveform generators. Create architecture design artifacts,including Requirements Specifications, Use Cases, Software DesignDocuments, high-level architecture drawings, and concept of operationsdiagrams. Investigate and resolve field issues based upon knowledge gainedfrom product logs for the purpose of reproducing issues in the lab.
Requires Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent, in ElectricalEngineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Must have 3 yearsof experience prototyping and developing Wi-Fi products, features, andalgorithms for radio source management, connection management, quality ofservice management, and network management of Wi-Fi access points or clientdevices; 3 years of experience developing standards-based products andfeatures utilizing IEEE 802.11 ac, IEEE 802.11 ax, and chipsetsolutions; 3 years of experience utilizing standards-based features includedin Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 specifications from the Wi-Fi Alliance; 3 years ofexperience writing and preparing architecture solutions, product designdocuments, and test cases, in an individual and collaborative capacity;3 years of experience developing creative and novel solutions to challengingtechnical problems, including the ability to generate patent applications orpublications in the wireless technology area; and 3 years of experiencedeveloping and analyzing the performance of embedded Wi-Fi solutions utilizingprogramming languages such as C or Python and tools such as Matlab,wireshark, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Analyzers, debuggers, or devicelogging. A hybrid (in office and remote work) arrangement is available.
Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiationsbegin at $110,800 per year.
