  POSITION SUMMARY: The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a comprehensive early intervention preschool program for children whose parents have cognitive limitations. The Lead Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the classroom which includes but not limited to classroom, playground structure, curriculum plans and implements developmentally appropriate, to a classroom up to 10 children, provide/assist to the children and family transportation. Monitors each child's development and the family's functioning, conducts at least monthly home visits for each family and maintains accurate files on each child. In addition, the teacher conducts monthly home visits and provides support for families with developmental disabilities/cognitive difficulties. The lead position will provide classroom oversight of the Preschool Teacher and Preschool Aides. This position can be laid off up to 10 weeks through the school year.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Interact with children showing respect and dignity. Apply Agency core values of stewardship, compassion, integrity and equity.

  Plan, implement and post developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum for children

  Set up and clean up Classroom (including stocking enough towels, baby wipes, and plastic bags; making bleach bottles daily to spray diaper changing area and all objects at day end: sanitizing objects put in the children's mouth).

  Promote and encourage child growth and development in the home and classroom, referrals to necessary community resources, and advocacy for the child's needs and interests.

  Provide at least one monthly home visit to each child for at least one hour that focuses on parent-child interaction, child development, positive discipline, referrals to other services, and any other topic of importance to the child's functioning.

  Maintain accurate and complete data on the individual child files, (including required daily observation forms for all children under 3 years of age; attendance records, Client Contact Logs, weekly child observations, home visit records, child assessments, child developmental screenings, child goals, and PBC data system is up to date).

  Ensure that proper and current documentation is complete on each family (including release of information, data on allergies and medical conditions, release and emergency contact information, and other data needed).

  Establish and maintain positive communication with parents, provide information about their child's progress and relevant guidance/discipline techniques, daily routines, strength based approach with the child.

  Report any suspected instances of abuse or neglect to the supervisor, make reports to the Child Welfare Program, and to other supervisors and team members who are also working with that family.

  Attend family engagement activities and other events as need for fundraising

  Attend/Plan family staffing meetings, all staff meetings, and team meetings.

  Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem solving skills with children, families, co-workers, and the community.

  Provide transportation of children/families (Driving or Assistant) in an agency bus/vehicle

  Oversee Teacher, Teacher's Aide, interns, and volunteers

  Follow PBC, USDA, OOC, SPARK, and Grant guidelines at all times

  OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Ensure workflow and/or procedures are kept up-to-date for owned tasks

  Maintain all safety protocols and techniques within the workplace

  Maintain an accurate daily record on timesheet of hours worked

  Acts responsive and engaged with developing a positive work environment which includes providing honest, respectful and direct feedback to other staff, participating in team meetings, team development, personal training plans, respecting diversity and differences among staff, clients and stakeholders.

  Completes other duties as assigned

  Sound judgment and common sense in decision-making.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

  Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or Childhood Development Associate Certificate, or related field. Be at a Step 8 in the Oregon Registry or have a professional development plan outlining steps to be taken to achieve Step 8.

  Two years' experience working in Early Childhood Education with young children.

  Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities/cognitive difficulties preferred.

  Valid Oregon driver's license, including driving record and liability insurance acceptable to PBC and its insurance carrier.

  Registered in the Central Background Check, Current First Aid and CPR card, Food Handler's Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse and Neglect training.

  PHYSICAL DEMAND:

  The physical effort applied in this job will vary depending on the situation. Typically, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, working at floor level, standing, walking, sitting, and communicating will apply.MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:

  Constant mental and visual focus is required while working with children.WORKING CONDITIONS:

  Working conditions will typically be in a climate controlled and regulated environment

  Playground and off-site work will present a variety of environmental conditions

  ATTENDANCE:

  This position requires availability based on business need

  It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all times

  SAFETY:

  There is never a good reason to risk your own personal safety or that of a child or co-worker

  Being proactive to prevent injuries or incidents is an expectation

  All injuries or incidents, no matter how small, must be reported

  FSLA:

  The position of Preschool Lead Teacher is non-exempt

  Non-Exempt positions are eligible for overtime pay
