About the Unit/Department/Team The pre-encounter team is responsible for assisting patients in determining insurance coverage and benefits for procedures at Lakewood Health System. The pre-encounter team completes prior authorizations for planned procedures, works with patients to provide an estimate of the total charge for intended procedure and determines patient liability after insurance coverage. Mission for Position The goal of this position is to live out our mission by providing quality, personalized healthcare for a lifetime by assisting patients with insurance benefits as it relates to their medical procedures at Lakewood Health System. Duties & Responsibilities Provide patient estimates inquiring on charges for procedures to be performed. Obtain prior authorization and verify insurance coverage for the procedure as well as any determine deductible, co-pay, and out-of-pocket expenses. Provide patients with an estimate range of the patient responsibility amount after insurance coverage and other available discounts. Verify eligibility for insurance coverage and working closely with our Patient Financial Assistance Team for additional financial assistance screening. Assist patients with post procedure questions and concerns related to coordination of benefits and patient responsibility. Position Type This is a full-time Monday through Friday, 80 hour per 2-week pay period position.
