  Summary

  Collects test data, monitors, inspects and troubleshoots plant equipment using lubrication, thermography, vibration, and other predictive maintenance technologies. Reviews test results for conformance to technical/operating procedural specifications, providing technical support to Operations, Maintenance Engineering, and Procurement Departments.

  Minimum Requirements

  Tech II:

  High school graduate or GED. Has three years experience in predictive maintenance technology or site maintenance qualification program (with mechanical, electrical, or I&C disciplines) or a chemistry qualification program. Must be certified to ANSI/ANS 3.1, 4.5.2. (1978).

  Tech Sr:

  High school graduate or GED. Must meet the requirements of a Predictive Maintenance Tech II. Must be Certified to ANSI/ANS 3.1, 4.5.2. (1978). Must have complex knowledge of predictive maintenance computerized data systems. Requires a thorough understanding of predictive maintenance principles, concepts, techniques, and practices.

  Major Accountabilities

  Tech II:

  1) Performs moderately complex predictive maintenance activities to measure plant efficiency, component conditions and ensure compliance with the PVNGS technical specifications.

  2) Maintains a high level of proficiency in the usage of, application and care of a wide variety of complex test and measuring equipment and instrumentation.

  3) Makes recommendations to Engineering by reviewing test analytical results for conformance to technical and operating specifications.

  4) Ability to achieve accurate and reproducible test results.

  5) Performs duties independently with minimal supervision.

  6) Operate, calibrate and maintain analytical instrumentation as directed. Troubleshoot instrumentation/methods as necessary.

  7) Participate in training programs and seminars and successfully complete documented training program requirements.

  Tech Sr:

  1) Conduct vibration analysis using single-channel instruments based on established severity criteria, analyze a spectrum of fault conditions, set up instruments with fault frequencies, take off route data, and maintain a database of results while demonstrating proficiency in understanding balancing and alignment principles.

  2) Execute thermography with advanced proficiency in the theory and application of infrared thermography, incorporating concepts of emissivity, reflected temperature compensation, and addressing spatial and measurement resolution considerations.

  3) Conduct local leak rate testing in strict adherence to technical specifications, employing both mechanical and electrical LLRT monitors to ensure compliance with technical requirements in accordance with plant licensing standards.

  4) Utilize Bently Nevada vibration components to meet NEIL (Nuclear Equipment Interface Library) requirements and implement condition-based monitoring for gathering data on the main turbine, feedwater system, and recirculation pump.

  5) Maintains the highest level of proficiency in the usage, application and care of wide variety of complex test and measuring equipment and instrumentation.

  6) Operate, calibrate and maintain analytical instrumentation. Troubleshoot instrumentation/methods as necessary.

  7) Participate in training programs and seminars and successfully complete documented training program requirements.
