Overview
Altorfer Power is a premier Caterpillar Power Systems dealership dedicated to providing top-notch solutions in power systems rentals. As a Power Rental Manager, you will play a pivotal role in steering our power rental department towards continued growth and success. This position not only involves managing day-to-day operations but also taking charge of all Power Rental Sales and Marketing activities. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals, ensuring efficiency and excellence in every aspect of our services.
Basic Duties
Sales and Marketing Leadership:
Spearhead sales and marketing initiatives for the power rental department, including strategic planning and execution.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5-10 outside rental sales representatives to achieve sales targets and expand market presence.
Organize and participate in events and trade shows to promote our power rental solutions and network with potential clients.
Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement.
Demonstrate effective negotiation and closing techniques, employing pricing strategies and tactics to win, retain, and differentiate Altorfer Power Systems from competitors.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships, understanding their needs and providing tailored power rental solutions.
Fleet Inventory Management:
Manage the rental fleet inventory, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection of power systems equipment.
Make informed purchasing decisions regarding new equipment, assessing market demands and technological advancements.
Oversee the retirement of aging equipment, ensuring the fleet remains modern and efficient.
Implement strategies for optimal inventory management to meet varying customer needs.
Team and Operations Management:
Supervise the Rental Administrative Supervisor and their team, along with the Power Rental Service Supervisor who manages about 10 shop and field service technicians.
Ensure seamless rental operations from customer inquiry to equipment return.
Regularly report to upper management on rental activities, fleet status, team performance, and any significant operational insights or issues. This includes providing comprehensive updates on inventory management, customer feedback, financial performance, and market trends to facilitate informed decision-making at the executive level.
Work closely with other departments within the Company and Division to:
Develop new sales opportunities and identify potential process improvements.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with outside vendors and partners.
Collaborate with main Power Systems Service and Parts Departments to fulfill all rental needs.
Ensure exceptional customer care and coordinate efforts to address customer needs effectively.
Collaborate on cross-functional projects and initiatives, leveraging insights and resources from different areas of the business for synergistic outcomes
Maintain the highest standards of equipment maintenance and safety, including OSHA compliance, electrical safety, and DOT regulations.
Financial Management:
Responsible for the financial performance of the power rental division, including profit and loss statement management.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, forecast needs, and make strategic business decisions.
Control costs and maximize profitability through efficient resource management and strategic planning.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems rental, sales, or a related industry.
Proven leadership in sales and team management.
Strong knowledge of inventory and financial management.
A clear thinker who uses objectivity, experience, and analysis to make sound decisions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to handle pressure and adapt in a dynamic business environment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to work in an office environment and travel to various job sites.
Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment and materials.
Adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment when required.
A valid driver’s license and insurability required.
Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
