Purpose Accordingto the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National ScienceFoundation (NSF), a postdoc is an individual who has received a doctoraldegree (or equivalent) and is engaged in a temporary and defined periodof mentored advanced research training to enhance the professionalskills and research independence needed to pursue his or her chosencareer path. In addition, according to the National Postdoc Association(NPA), Postdoctoral appointees can pursue basic, clinical, ortranslational projects so long as their primary effort is devoted towardtheir own scholarship. Postdocs are essential to the scholarly missionof the mentor and host institution, and thus are expected to have thefreedom to publish the results of their scholarship. We are looking fora highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who is passionate about basicbiological questions on heart development and regeneration to join ourresearch team at Herma Heart Institute, Department of Pediatrics at theMedical College of Wisconsin. The research interests of Han lab resideat the interface of Cell Biology, Genomics, and Cardiology. We employseveral experimental systems, including engineered mouse models andhuman-induced pluripotent stem cells, to understand the cellularmechanisms that govern the proliferation and differentiation of heartmuscle cells. We also utilize a variety of molecular and computationaltechniques to understand the diversity of cellular behavior via singlecell/spatial multi-omics. Our goal is to provide a cell biology view tobetter understand human heart disease and develop regenerativestrategies.
