JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Purpose The Lam lab () in theNeuroscience Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin isseeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in innate immunity,neuroimmunology and neuroscience research to join the team. The labprimarily utilize zebrafish and Danionella translucida as model systemsto study how the activity of innate immune cells are regulated and howtheir activity regulates development, wound repair, regeneration,disease pathogenesis and aging in vivo. A variety of approaches such asin vivo confocal liveimaging, genetic manipulation, cellular andmolecular biology, optogenetics, and photopharmacological techniques areemployed in the lab. The postdoctoral appointee has the uniqueopportunity to take part in the development of a novel vertebrate model,Danionella translucida, for immune related research and establish aniche for their research program if they wish to pursue. Characteristicsof a postdoctoral appointment: It is expected that postdocs at MCW, withthe assistance of their supervisor, will: Transition to careerindependence through the development of professional skills that enablethe postdoc to actively pursue a career of his/her own choosing. Besupervised by at least one senior scholar who actively promotes thepostdoc\'s professional development. Establish an individual developmentplan (IDP) that incorporates equally the postdoc\'s career and traininggoals and the mentor\'s research goals. Pursue basic, clinical, ortranslational projects so long as effort is focused primarily onresearch. Publish results of the postdoc\'s research and scholarshipduring their appointment. The postdoctoral appointment is temporary bynature, the aggregate amount of time spent as a postdoc is recommendedto not exceed five years (not including family medical leave ormaternity/paternity leave).
